New-born baby found dead in the veld
"I'm still shocked even now, how can a human being do something terrible like this."
VANDERBIJLPARK. – It was business as usual for those who usually dumped and collect scrap for recycling when they discovered a dead body of a new-born baby the trees opposite, CW4 houses, in Vanderbijlpark on Friday.
Sedibeng Ster was called to the scene by one of the community members and upon arrival at the scene there were handful community members who tried to call the police. Sedibeng Ster was told that it was almost three hours since they had called the police. However, when Sedibeng Ster called both Boipatong and Vanderbijlpark SAPS they responded immediately, and the body was removed from the scene. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster one of the people who made the discovery that he was there to dump rubbish and that those who collect recycling materials called him to show him what they had just discovered.
“When I arrived there, it was a new-born baby but already dead. I called some neighbours and they tried to call police. I was worried to leave this body because I was afraid the dogs might eat it. I’m still shocked even now, how can a human being do something terrible like this. I don’t think I will sleep at night because what I have seen is shocking”, he said.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, they told Sedibeng Ster that they can conclude that baby was dumped a few hours after birth.
