Mbappe steals the show against Bafana

This was a humiliating defeat for Bafana Bafana as they looked directionless giving away ball possession cheaply in their own half.

SEDIBENG.- It was a harsh football lesson when the world champions France hammered Bafana Bafana 5-0 in an international friendly match played at Stade Pierre Mauroy Stadium in France last night, Tuesday. This was a humiliating defeat for Bafana Bafana as they looked directionless giving away ball possession cheaply in their own half.

This was a different performance compared to when they played to a goalless draw against Guinea in an international friendly match recently. As it was predicted France deadly striker, Kylian Mbappe ran riot with Bafana Bafana defenders. He was always going to be the man to be watched coming into this encounter, but Bafana Bafana failed to deal with him as he scored a brilliant opening goal to give France a 1-0 lead. The game went to interval with France on a 2-0 lead.

In the second half France started where they left off in the first half with Mbappe running around with Bafana Bafana’s last line of defence like toys and they offered no resistance. The score could have been worse thanks to Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, who made brave saves especially in second half to deny Mbappe a hatrick.

Despite this heavy defeat Bafana Bafana Coach, Hugo Broos, was pleased with the quality of his players. As always social media was buzzing with some supporters questioning the exclusion of some experienced campaigners such as Andile Jali and Themba Zwane.
