VUT honours the late Desmond Tutu

“Let’s put this institution into a better position globally. We should always promote social cohesion and advocacy.”

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The relatives of the late Dr Archbishop Desmond Tutu were touched and impressed when the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) honored, recognized and remembered the work done by their late father, grandfather and beloved brother recently.

The memorial lecture of Archbishop Mpilo Tutu was graced by the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, Executive Mayor of Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) Lerato Maloka and Emfuleni Local Municipality MMC Vincent Jones and was hosted at Desmond Tutu Great Hall. In his welcome address, VUT Vice Chancellor and Principal Professor Dan Kgwadi appealed all to work together and always remember the legacy of the late Tutu. Kgwadi said that to attract the community, VUT needs to uproot the ‘weed’s.

Candle were lit as part of the memorial lecture for the late Desmond Tutu, hosted at the VUT Desmond Tutu Great Hall.
