Gauteng MEC for community safety visits Rust-ter-Vaal

“Using stolen goods is against the law. If we find you making use of stolen goods, we are going to charge you with possession of stolen goods and subsequently arrest you.”

The Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, recently held a stakeholder engagement session at the Rust-ter-Vaal Community Hall.

The engagement is part of the Safer Gauteng initiative which has seen Mazibuko visit various places around the Gauteng Province to address issues of crime and safety.

The engagement was recently attended by leaders of business, FBOs, NGOs, Civil society and political organizations to discuss issues of safety and community participation in fighting crime.

During the session, the community was urged to work together with law enforcement in order to combat crime in their community.

The sessions are used to develop an action plan aimed at enhancing stakeholder cooperation, geared towards the promotion of safety and contribute towards the reduction of crime all stakeholders with an interest on safety are part of the engagement .

Speaking during the engagement, De Deur Police Station Commander Colonel Landingwe warned against the buying and selling of stolen goods.

“Using stolen goods is against the law. If we find you making use of stolen goods, we are going to charge you with possession of stolen goods and subsequently arrest you.”

Other issues that were discussed during the engagement use of substances and how it affects communities.
