Young Juventus FC, a marvel to watch

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The young Sebokeng Juventus FC was marvellous to watch when they lost 1-0 to VUT FC in the Safa Sedibeng SAB League match at Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark over the weekend.

It was a great advert for football when this young and fearless team gave VUT FC a run for their money for the better part of the game. At some stage, it looked as if the game would end in a 0-0 goalless draw, but it was not to be when VUT FC got a penalty after a Juventus defender fouled “The Students” striker inside the box.

Tempos were flying high with Juventus FC feeling hard done by the referee and at the end of the game, the referee gave one of the Juventus FC players a red card.

Apart from this, it was a great game of football with the visitors toying around with the home team.

Juventus Head Coach, Isaac “Ngamla” Mphasane who is also the club boss is well known for possession football and it came as no surprise when he outplayed VUT FC when it came to ball possession.

Mphasane showed his experience attacking the home team from all angles, playing from the back, middle and final third.

The game kicked off at 11:00 and it was too hot, but credit must go to both teams because even this scorching sun didn’t affect them.

The soccer fans who came to watch the game went home happy with both teams giving them an exciting game despite the heat.

It was a mouth-watering football game with both sides testing each other’s strength in the middle of the park. However, Juventus FC had an upper hand taking into consideration their ball possession percentage. Juventus’s players’ respect for the ball gave Sedibeng Ster Sport a feeling that the ball didn’t want to leave their soccer boots. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, the ‘ever smiling’ Mphasane was happy with the way his young team played regardless of the outcome of the game. He was pleased with his team’s performance on the day.

Despite being the visitors, Juventus FC took the game to their opponents.

Mphasane is one of the experienced local coaches who made a name for himself when he took Swallows FC to the Nedbank Cup Last 32 two years ago before they lost to Maritzburg.
