7-year-old girl dies of suspected poisoning

The police in Sharpeville have launched an Inquest case docket following the death of 7-year-old Neo Raboroko from Tshepiso Phase 3.

SHARPEVILLE. – Neo’s grandmother, Matshidiso Raboroko (44) says that the deceased was playing with two other kids from the same street on Sunday.

It is said that Neo along with two other kids were given snacks by an unknown person.

“I had just gotten back from a meeting when I heard a child calling for me at the gate. I rushed outside and saw that the child had accompanied Neo as she was not feeling well.

“I took her inside the house and gave her a glass of water after she asked for it. I asked her what was was wrong and she told me she was not feeling well.

“At this time her condition deteriorated. I asked the neighbour’s for help and we rushed her to the clinic.”.

Neo died on arrival at the clinic. Matshidiso says her granddaughter had symptoms of poisoning.

Matshidiso says she and her family are devastated as they buried Neo’s Mother after she was stabbed and killed in 2020.

“I’m really heartbroken by this incident. Both my daughter and my granddaughter have been taken away from me. I do not know what I did to deserve this.”

Police spokesperson Constable Busiswe Sango confirmed the incident, adding that they are awaiting post-moterm  results.
