Ladies and gentlemen we have made it to our much awaited destination, 2022!
This means new challenges and new memories, TOUCHLINE doesn’t believe in making New Year resolutions but let me look forward to a great year.
Much has been said and written about 2022 and what we want to achieve as a country and nation. For example, COVID-19 was and still is the biggest concern in the world of sports. For the past two years things have not been the same as far as sports is concerned especially football which is regarded as the No 1 sport in the world. It is everyone’s wish to see football back to normal with soccer fans returning to the stadium to watch PSL and Bafana-Bafana games, but as a country we are not going to achieve this as long as majority of our people are reluctant to vaccinate.
TOUCHLINE doesn’t see soccer fans returning to stadiums very soon taking into consideration the reluctance of our people to vaccinate. This is our biggest challenge as the country to say the least. During the festive holidays, local soccer fans packed the Pooe Festive Tournament to capacity to show how much they missed this beautiful game, but to make matters worse, most of the people were without masks and there was no social distance. It was the case of being there at your own risk because there was no COVID-19 regulations and health protocols observed. Yours truly TOUCHLINE was in the midst of the crowd struggling to do his duties. However, the good news is that yours truly TOUCHLINE has been vaccinated. TOUCHLINE challenges all soccer fans in this country to go vaccinate if they entertain the idea of returning to watch PSL games live. We have no choice if we want football to go back where it belongs. No doubt, our football without soccer fans is boring, with players feel as if they are play friendly matches.
It is new year, new challenges and new memories!
