Vereeniging bakkie rollover leaves one dead, one critical

The driver of the bakkie, a man in his late 30s, was found to have suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital by another private service on the scene.

A single-bakkie rollover on General Hertzog Road in Peacehaven, Vereeniging, yesterday morning, has left one man dead, another in a critical condition and the driver with minor injuries.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring says ER24 paramedics were on the scene at 07:26 (29 Dec 21) along with multiple other security and EMS services.

“One man was found lying by a gate in the entrance to a property just off the road. The patient showed no signs of life and was declared dead on arrival.”

Meiring said another man was found lying on the side of the road a few meters from the bakkie, in a critical condition.

“He required Advanced Life Support interventions which were administered by another private service’s ALS paramedic before the patient was airlifted by Medical Helicopter to hospital for further care. Both men were believed to be in their mid 30s and both were allegedly travelling in the back of the bakkie when it lost control.”
