Man’s lifeless body discovered next to sub-station in Vanderbijlpark

A crowbar and pliers which were allegedly used by the victim were found on the scene.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – The police in Vanderbijlpark have launched an inquest case docket following the discovery of a lifeless body of an African male (35) at Langenhoven Street, CW6, near a sub- station.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Shaan Motsapi, police were summoned to attend the complaint.

“On arrival, police met with two security guards who informed them that the electricity went off.  They further explained that when this happened, they patrolled the area and went to the sub- station to check what possibly could have went wrong. On their arrival at the sub-station, they discovered the lifeless body.

“It is alleged that, the victim opened the electrical box which is situated along Langenhoven Street in an open veld and tampered with it. Apparently he was electrocuted and died on the spot.”

A crowbar and pliers which were allegedly used by the victim were found on the scene.

Motsapi says investigations are ongoing.
