Lerato stays at the helm!

Despite much controversy following the recent Local Government Elections, the African National Congress’ (ANC) Lerato Maloka is still the Executive Mayor of the Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM).

SEDIBENG.- “It must be each councilor’s determination to enable service delivery rather than to hinder it directly or indirectly.

“I am looking forward to a seamless work environment with all Councilors working in harmony to deliver the much-needed services for our people.

“As we agree to disagree in Council, we must all be driven by the promises we made to all the residents of Sedibeng: nothing more, nothing less,” expressed Maloka.

She recently announced the new members of her Mayoral Committee (MMC), which she determined as follows:

  1. Finance – Cllr Mochawe, Jimmy Sandile (ANC);
  2. Local Economic Development and Tourism – Cllr Gamede, Lulama Shirley-Ann (ANC);
  3. Corporate Services – Cllr Mkhize, Bheki Meshack (ANC);
  4. Environment and Clean Energy, Cllr Radebe, Mamokete Veronica (ANC);
  5. Health and Social Services, Cllr Mokoena, Nkubi Frances (CSA);
  6. Sports, Recreation, Arts & Culture and Public Safety, Cllr Tsotetsi, Busang Joshua (PAC);
  7. Human Settlements and Development Planning, Cllr Khomoeasera, Mmadisebo Lucia (ANC);
  8. Transport and Infrastructure, Cllr Ndwandwe, Nkosinathi (ANC)

A statement from the SDM that the appointments are built on the already concluded election.

Councilors Mamohale Emmerentia Moloi and Moipone Modikeng were elected as the Chief Whip and Speaker of the SDM Council respectively.

The statement further said that this completes the stabilization of political office bearers in the SDM.

“The Executive Mayor would like to congratulate all the newly appointed Members of the Council and look forward to working together and adhering to the decorum of council,” the statement said.
