ELFA elections postponed till further notice

As expected, the elections and prize giving ceremony was called off. 

SEBOKENG.- As Sedibeng Ster Sport predicted, the much awaited Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) Special Congress and Prize Giving Ceremony has been postponed until further notice.

This special congress and prize giving ceremony was scheduled to take place over the weekend in Sebokeng, but the clubs received the correspondence on Thursday informing them about the postponement. This was the same day Sedibeng Ster newspaper carried the story that some of the teams would challenge the elections because they felt that it was unconstitutional. As expected, the elections and prize giving ceremony was called off.

ELFA Acting Secretary, Teboho Mphaga, sent letters to the teams to inform them that the ceremony would no longer take place as scheduled.

“It is with great disappointment to inform you, members that the congress and prize giving ceremony scheduled for Sunday, 5 December 2021 has been postponed til further notice.  The REC held a meeting on the 30th November 2021, and it was resolved that there will be visits to members. A scheduled will be sent and no member will have/host elections before these visits. We apologize for any inconvenience cause,” read the statement sent to the teams.

Sedibeng Ster Sport has been told that some SAB Leaue and Super League officials have made their intentions clear that they will be challenging the ELFA Chairman, Jabu Mgcina for his Chairmanship position. Sedibeng Ster Sport is in possession of the names of those who will be challenging Mgcina for Chairmanship position.

Some of those who set to stand for Chairmanship include a former Safa Sedibeng administrator and two SAB League teams dministrators.
