ORANGE FARM. – The police arrested eight suspects in Orange Farm on Thursday following an intelligence driven operation leading them to the recovery of a hijacked truck.

Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele reports that members followed up on information they received about a hijacked truck with cargo.

“It was reported that the stolen property is being stored at a house in Tjovitjo, Orange Farm. An intelligence-driven operation was conducted and the yard was tactically entered.

“Eight suspects were found loading the stolen property into an Iveco and they were subsequently placed under arrest.”

Makhubele states that the truck hijacking had just taken place in Cleveland, and the Sedibeng K9 unit joined by Crime Prevention teams further searched the house and two more suspects were found hiding in a cupboard.

“Two other cars were found in the yard loaded with more stolen property. The SAPS members further searched the house and found more stolen property in the bedrooms.

“One of the suspects is a female who is also the owner of the house, she was found hiding in a cupboard.”

The suspects are charged with truck hijacking and possession of stolen property.

“They will further be profiled to determine if they may be linked to other crimes committed, especially hijacking related crimes.”
