"We all know the part that sports play in our community and it is important that all the role players must be vaccinated.”

SEDIBENG.- There is a plan to form a relationship with amateur football clubs in an effort to vaccinate soccer players.

This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by the Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) Disaster Management Risk Reduction and Covid-19 Compliance Officer, Thabiso Mosiane.
Mosiane was speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport during the screening of the players prior to the Mamelodi Sundowns Tournament over the weekend. He said that he believes that there is a need for amateur clubs to encourage their players to get vaccinated. Mosiane told Sedibeng Ster Sport that through football they can win the fight against Covid-19. “I want to challenge amateur football clubs to come forward to see how best we can help to vaccinate their players.

“We all know that the majority of youngsters in the townships play football, and it would be easy to get more numbers through their clubs.
“ I was very impressed when I was asked by a local development academy to help them with screening of their players. I suggested to the club management to organise with the parents of these players to have a memorandum of outstanding for these players to be vaccinated. This is the future of our country where everyone would be requested to be vaccinated. We all know the part that sports play in our community and it is important that all the role players must be vaccinated,” he said.

Mosiane told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the local football structures can organise with his office to come to their matches to set up a vaccination site. He said they are more than willing to come to the sporting activities to vaccinate the players.
