Great start for Sedibeng U/19 Netball Team

This annual netball national championship started over the weekend and comes to an end on Thursday.

SEDIBENG.- The Sedibeng U/19 Netball Team has started their Telkom National Netball Championships campaign in great form, winning two of their opening games in Tshwane, Pretoria. This annual netball national championship started over the weekend and comes to an end on Thursday.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Fakazile Nkitseng who is the Team Manager said he was overwhelmed by the team’s performance despite the fact that for most of them it is their first experience participating at this level.
Nkitseng who is also the Chairperson of Sedibeng Netball Federation was full of compliments for the Sedibeng Netball Team saying they put up a brave fight even though they are the youngest team in their group.
“I’m really stunned by these young girls’ performance and the future looks great because even next year they will still qualify to compete in this tournament because of their age. Look, for most of them it is their first experience participating at these national championships, but they are unbelievable. I’m very proud of them. We can only build from here going forward because the future looks great, and Sedibeng is well represented. We are not here to add numbers but to compete against the best and we match them pound for pound. We are proud of our girls because of their performance in our first two games of the tournament,” said Nkitseng.

Nkitseng was also full of compliments to the Sedibeng U/19 Netball Team Coach, Kesenogile Ngwenya for her great job to prepare the team for the tournament. In the first game, Sedibeng beat Joe Qqabi Netball Team 38-21 and Pixley Netball Team 42-22 respectively. This was before they lost 32-19 to Nelson Mandela Bay Netball Team on Monday.

Despite the defeat, Nkitseng said the girls produced a five star performance and they should be proud of their performance on the day regardless of the results.
