VEREENIGING.- The Vereeniging police recently arrested four suspects and charged them with possession of a hijacked vehicle and attempted murder in Vereeniging. It is said that the South African Police Services (SAPS) K9 Unit members received information about a vehicle, a black BMW 3 Series, that came out positive for having been hijacked after it was noticed on one of the cameras in the vicinity of Vereeniging. Police started to look for the said vehicle and it was spotted on the old Johannesburg Road. Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Nombulelo Mohlakoana said that police approached the vehicle but its occupants did not stop. “The K9 members got out of their vehicle to approach the suspects but seeing that they were not stopping and were coming straight at them. The K9 members shot at the suspects’ vehicle tyres as it sped towards Sonlandpark,” Mohlakoana said. She adds that the suspects then lost control of the vehicle and jumped out of the car to surrender. Four suspects, two males and two females aged between 36 and 27 years were arrested.
