Some of the neighbours alleged that the rate of crime robbery and hijack is rife at these flats.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Part of the flat at Becquerel Court in CW6, Vanderbijlpark was set alight and left to burn to ashes by angry community members on Friday. This brings to fifth the number of flats that have been burned by the community in a short period of time. It is alleged that the resident incident was sparked when a man left his car at the parking lot of the flat to visit a friend and when he returned to his car, his cellphone, wallet and other valuable items were missing and the car was damaged. He was apparently pointed to one of a flat that belongs to the thugs who had broken into his car. The man went to check if there was anyone at the flat but it was locked. The next morning he arrived with his friends to search for the suspects. However, they could not find anyone and in anger and frustration they allegedly set the apartment on fire. Some of the neighbours alleged that the rate of crime robbery and hijack is rife at these flats. A tenant said that there are no legitimate owners of the flats. ” Everyone here grabs and takes. They claim and collect rent from the desperate tenants for themselves. Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Gertrude Makhale said that to date this information has not come her way. “However, I will check at the station if we have a case of business robbery like that.”
