Minister of Finance visits Marikana

He promised that within a week, transformers will be installed in some areas.

VANDERBIJLPARK.  – Various political parties’ deployed their top members out in numbers to the local communities on ‘door to door’ campaigns to encourage everyone to register and to vote in the upcoming local government elections on 1 November.

In Sedibeng region, the ANC deployed Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwane to campaign at the Marikana Squatter Camp near Bophelong ahead of the polls. Some of the promises that the minister made such as improving the livelihood of the community in Ward 6 and 23 seemed not to be new to the community.

The only thing the community were happy about is when Godongwane said that the ANC has deployed him in the region until December 2022.

Godongwane heard that there are serious, daily growing concerns experienced for the last couple of years such as the burning out of the transformers, electricity cut-offs without notification and rubbish not collected by the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM).

Godongwane urged the communities to stop illegal connections. He promised that within a week, transformers will be installed in some areas.
