Power outages result in another postponement of incitement case

VEREENIGING.- The suspect in the looting incitement case have to spend another two nights behind bars after Magistrate Ziphora Phage moved the dates for a formal bail hearing due to the power failure at the Vereeniging Margistrates Court today.

The suspect who was apparently prepared to go home, arrived carrying a red back bag, ready to meet his family. He greeted a few people at the court gallery upon his arrival from the holding cells.

The state Prosecutor, Benny Killian, pleaded with the Magistrate for the postponement.

The suspect is being charged for the alleged incident of the public violence that led to some  businesses being destructed and looted in the area recently.

The  43-years-old man was arrested and put behind bars by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (HAWKS) at his home in Ironside on 6 August. The charged sheet, indicates that the suspect posted on  a WhatsApp group named: “Vaal Operation Dudula” inciting members to loot.
