Police recover illegally obtained goods worth R800 000 in Vereeniging

Police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda says, " The team  managed to recover illegally obtained copper which varied from cables, bus-bars, connectors, transformer windings and various copper cables, which have a value of about R800 000."

VEREENIGING. – The police together with Telkom, Transnet, PRASA, Home Affairs, Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) and Sekuriteit Sonder Grense carried out a Second-Hand Goods operation in the Vereeniging policing precinct on Tuesday where illegally obtained goods were recovered.
 
Police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda says, ” The team  managed to recover illegally obtained copper which varied from cables, bus-bars, connectors, transformer windings and various copper cables, which have a value of about R800 000.”
 
Police recovered illegally obtained goods worth an estimated R800 000 in Vereeniging.
 
Funda stated that the estimated damage to infrastructure was evaluated to be  well over R1, 2 million adding that a scrap metal dealer was fined during the operation.
 
The acting station commander Colonel Fanie Radebe applauded every stakeholder involved with a job well done.
 
” This is one of the operations that seek to address damage to  infrastructure and law enforcement agencies will not rest until all those that are involved including scrap dealers are brought to book.” Concluded Radebe.
