Two suspects arrested for carjacking

“While on the way, the man pointed at the victim with a firearm and gave a firearm to the other suspect that was sitting with them in the front, forcing him to drive. The suspects took his cell phone and wallet and dropped him at a veld near Walkerville. The victim asked for a lift to report the incident. They passed his bakkie on the way.

DE DEUR. – The police have arrested two suspects for carjacking while the third suspect got away on foot.

The suspects are alleged to have tricked a victim who transports goods by asking him to assist them.

Police spokesperson Maria Letsele says: “The complainant was working at the Flea Market in De Deur. He was then approached by three unknown African males who asked to hire his Bakkie to fetch wooden poles and deliver them to Lenasia.

“They all came to an agreement and two suspects sat at the back of the bakkie and one in front to give directions. While on the way, one of the suspects from the back asked the owner to stop on the side of the road to make a call.”

Thereafter the suspect asked to sit in the front, as he was getting cold.

“While on the way, the man pointed at the victim with a firearm and gave a firearm to the other suspect that was sitting with them in the front, forcing him to drive. “He saw a police vehicle and stopped it. He relayed what had transpired and the police immediately gave chase to the vehicle.

“Members were able to apprehend the suspects at Fine Town Taxi Rank in Ennerdale. A toy gun was found in the car.”
