“R350 can’t buy anything”: Residents

" You can't even buy potatoes and tomatoes."

SEDIBENG. There has been more cries since President Cyril Ramaphosa reinstated the R350 social relieve grant for the unemployed recently.

Ramaphosa also included the unemployed caregivers to receive the  support grant, it will be available until March 2022.
Johannes Gwebu (52) who survives on piece job, said that he still want to understand how the President came into conclusion that the unemployed deserves R350.
“After conducting my own calculation that money can buy little. ” You can’t even buy potatoes and tomatoes. There are parents who have to  to buy mealie meal and pay transport for the to school.”
Gwebu affectionately known as Mzito, suggested that at least about R600 willl do.
His sentiments were echoed by that of Sipho Moremi who said thatthat because of the population, something extra need to be added.
“I mean we are all aware that the cost of living is too high.”
Mandla Hlatshwayo (56) said even R550 would do. ” The country is seriously affected by the pandemic and we all aware that the rate of unemployment has drastically gone up.”
