Truck found loading R1.9 million worth of stolen copper in De Deur

“On further investigation, members found stolen copper worth R1.9 million loaded inside the truck. Two suspects were arrested on the spot.”

DE DEUR. – Members of De Deur SAPS have been applauded for their diligent work after they recovered a trailer seized during a hijacking incident in Kroonstad.

According to police spokesperson Constable Maria Letsele, police were following a tip-off from members of the community who complained about a suspicious truck at corner Plantation and  Apple Orchard on the R82 in De Deur.

“Members rushed to the scene and on arrival, the truck and trailer were searched. The trailer was found to have been hijacked in Kroonstad with blue lights where hijackers pretended to be Metro Police personnel.

“On further investigation, members found stolen copper worth R1.9 million loaded inside the truck. Two suspects were arrested on the spot.”

The Station Commander Colonel Lydia Landingwe and the Visible Policing Commander Lieutenant Colonel Cecelia Mokako applauded members for their hard work and thanked the community for standing up against crime.
