HEIDELBERG. . – The Heidelberg SAPS Social Crime Prevention and CPF Coordinator Mzwandile Blose together with Domestic Violence and Victim Friendly Facility (VFF) Coordinator Nosiphiwo Makinana have embarked on visits to various schools, pre-schools and Crèches in the area.

The aim of the visits is to conduct awareness campaigns and to educate and sensitize learners about issues such as bullying, crime, human trafficking and drug abuse.

The officers recently visited the Heidelberg Primary School where 107 learners in Grade 4 and 180 learners from Grade 1 to 3 were addressed separately. This was to uphold the current Covid-19 Regulations under Level 2.

Blose says, “The awareness includes sensitizing learners and children on domestic violence incidents that need to be reported to educators or older persons.

“Learners were also encouraged to wear face masks at all times whilst at school, public places and in public transport to limit  infections.

“The importance of adhering to 1.5m social distances was also emphasized including frequent of washing hands.”

School Principal, Mr Pretorius was pleased with the good partnership formed between police and the school.  This campaign assists in channelling good behaviour, moral regeneration and the attitude of learners.”
