War’ brewing over 14 000 houses in Boiketlong

“The cake is so big that we can all share it among ourselves without bloodshed. We all need houses,” they said.

SEBOKENG. –  Is it a first come first serve frenzy over the multi million rand Boiketlong housing mega project?

The issue over the 14 000 RDP houses between the Boiketlong and Lethabong informal squatters  is far from over as  tension is brewing over who will be the first among the two  groups to occupy them. Maria Motswatswa, Community Liaison Officer (CLO) from Boiketlong said that they stood their ground that the residents of Lethabong are ‘dreaming’ if they think that they will occupy the houses first.

She said that their twenty years staying in the darkness is not a child’s play.

Lethabong residents are sticking to their claim of the houses.

“Should it happen that every member in Boiketlong has received their houses accordingly we will consider the Lethabong people,” said Motswatswa.

However, on the other hand Lethabong residents are sticking to their claim of the houses. Most residents of Lethabong are from as far as Soweto, Lenasia, Orange Farms and Pretoria they have been at the place for just over four years. The two neighboring areas are divided by the main road, Waterdal, that goes to Sonlandpark.

“The cake is so big that we can all share it among ourselves without bloodshed. We all need houses,” Lethabong residents said.
