Gauteng government takes Smart Mobility Weekends to Sedibeng

SEDIBENG.- The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport has said that it will tomorrow, Friday, take its road infrastructure maintenance drive, #SmartMobilityWeekends Campaign, to the Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM).

Aimed at improving the overall condition of the province’s road network, the campaign started in the City of Joburg where teams from the Provincial Department’s Road Maintenance and City’s Roads Agency joined forces to prioritise maintenance of the road network.

“ The initiative is in line with the Gauteng Provincial Government’s vision of Growing Gauteng Together (GGT2030) through the delivery of a world-class road infrastructure that promotes economic growth, social cohesion and inclusivity. As part of its contribution to the GGT2030 vision, the GDRT has cast its focus on improving roads and transport infrastructure to facilitate for the smart, convenient and efficient movement of people and goods.”

The department said that #SmartMobilityWeekends places primary focus on pothole patching, vegetation clearing, road markings, replacing and installing signage and fixing traffic lights.
