Zuma’s lawyers will no longer be representing him in corruption trial

The matter is expected to sit in the Pietermaritzburg High Court in KwaZulu-Natal on 17 May.

Less than a month before former President Jacob Zuma’s arms deal-related corruption trial, his defense lawyers have reportedly withdrawn their services to represent him in the trial.

According to News24 Mabuza Attorneys filed a formal notice of withdrawal as Zuma’s attorneys of record at the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Wednesday morning.

News24 reports that Attorney Eric Mabuza declined to provide reasons for the withdrawal, which has resulted in the effective resignation of Zuma’s entire legal team, including advocate Muzi Sikhakhane, from his corruption trial.

The matter is expected to sit in the Pietermaritzburg High Court in KwaZulu-Natal on 17 May.
