Liquor worth R68 000 seized during operation in Sebokeng

The Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Zodwa Molefe welcomes and appreciates efforts made by the law enforcement agencies in the area.

SEBOKENG. – In an effort to provide effective policing and maintain law and order, Sedibeng District law enforcement carried out high density operations in and around the Sebokeng and Evaton policing precincts over the weekend.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela reports that police patrolled the various areas and raided taverns and shebeens.  

“Two were closed down and liquor to the value of R68 000 was seized along with three fridges, an amplifier and a DVD.” Maxambela states that suspect were detained and charged for selling liquor without licenses in line with the Liquor Act contravention of license conditions.

“Furthermore, a total of 511 people were searched, 42 vehicle stopped and searched, 11 compliance inspections at liquor premises were carried out, eight schools patrolled, two taxi ranks visited and three shopping malls visited.”

All the arrested suspects will make an appearance at the  Sebokeng magistrate court soon. The Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Zodwa Molefe welcomes and appreciates efforts made by the law enforcement agencies in the area.
