"A girl child in the art is a girl child out of court."

The program will start with developmental workshops to all participants to enhance their poems. “The objective is to improve the standard of performances hence we start by training them before the big day” said Lethoba, adding that Sedibeng Wordfest is a project funded by the Gauteng Provincial Sports, Recreation, Art and Culture and the event will be held on the April 24 at Mafatsane Community Hall in Evaton from 08:00 to 16:00.Groups that are interested can still call to book their space. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Human Rights Celebration’ and poems should have the educational element of Human Rights celebration. There will be price money of R5 000 to be won between two successful groups. A girl child in the art is a girl child out of court. Artists should be comfortable in their areas and must be able to go out and perform outside their comfort spaces so that they can grow creatively, we belong to the world and should strive to perform anywhere our talent is needed and through this event we are preparing women to go out there serve the society through the power of spoken words,” concluded Lethoba.
