‘Constitution is not worth the paper it is written on’: Mashaba

VEREENIGING.- Action SA President, Herman Mashaba expressed his reservations about the country’s constitution over the weekend.

He said that the constitution did not reflect the needs of the country and its diverse people.
Mashaba heads Action SA, which aims to play a huge role on the political landscape of South Africa particularly in the upcoming local government elections.
He called on all South Africans to review the content of the constitution because he is not sure it is worth the paper it was written on.

“The constitution was signed in Vereeniging in 1996 by former president Nelson Mandela but it may not reflect the requirements of the country or its people,” he said.
From Vereeniging, Mashaba’s motorcade then moved on to other destinations such as Boipatong and Sharpeville.

When addressing the residents in these townships, Mashaba said that even after twenty seven years of democracy, South Africans are continuing to experience inequality, worse than before 1994.
He also spoke about continuously growing rate of unemployment in the country.
He promised that when Action SA comes to power after local elections, a lot of this challenges will be attended to. “All of us need to come on board to make a change”
