The statutory merger of Helplift Network – Vaal Triangle Hub (Helplift) into Emfuleni for Change NPC (EfC) was concluded late last year and became effective from 1 January 2021.

EfC wishes to welcome the following 5 ladies that now form part of the EfC Social Development Department:

• Lenette Kruger – Head of Department
• Annemarie Zoellner – Manager: Charity Store
• Tersia Kellerman – Graphic Design & Social Media Marketing
• Brigitte Lombard – Counsellor
• Soné Botes – Counsellor and Management Accounting (Charity Store)

The merger provides exceptional synergies and leverages the previous Helplift network as well as the EfC network, thereby significantly increasing our reach into the Emfuleni Communities to enable fast and effective distribution of essential goods and services to the less privileged.

The objectives of the Social Development Department remain the same:

• Mission – To inspire and enable people to help others.
• Vision – To provide innovative solutions to help people and communities to become active and self-sufficient.

The Social Development Department objectives are in support of the larger, EfC objectives:

• Mission:
o The Emfuleni Intervention Program (EIP) – Rehabilitate, Repurpose & Restitution
o Community Projects in Support of the EIP
• Vision:
o Rehabilitate Strategic Municipal Assets (the EIP)
o Create an Investible, Socio-economic Climate by Leveraging and Empower Local Industry that will Restore Wealth and Create Jobs in Emfuleni
o Establish a Special Economic Zone (SEZ)
o Establish a Logistics Hub
o City Improvement District (CID) Program
o Vaal River City

The Social Development Department runs a successful Charity Store (from the premises of the NG Church at 1 JJ Smith Street, CE4 Vanderbijlpark; please visit and support us) to assist welfare organisations in Emfuleni to distribute pre-loved clothing and other goods and services to the indigent. We connect the resources of Donors (Givers) with the needs of the Emfuleni community (Receivers). Giver and Receiver organisations (Churches, Welfare Organisations, Business and Associations) through an extensive EfC Membership network. We believe in developing people and their skills, rather than just providing them with products and services, and we plan to increase our training capability during 2021.

We also provide counselling to a traumatized community and look forward to resuming two community projects that had to be put on hold due to COVID-19 lockdown:

• The City Improvement District (CID) proof-of-concept in Hendrik van Eck Boulevard, that will span every community in Emfuleni, and
• The Journey from Indigent to Employed

We encourage organizations to become part of this Special Purpose Vehicle (EfC) to help us make a difference within our community – Register at: https://efc.umca.co.za/registration/

EfC will be hosting a virtual meeting on 04 March, 15:00 to 17:00, where we will present the significant progress made over the past 12 months. Be sure to book your seat for this Zoom event at: https://efc.umca.co.za/events/progress-update-meeting-2021-03-04/
