Police Spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela reports that a man picked up his colleague around 08:30 on Dona Road in Evaton.
“While in the car, the two men were attacked and shot at by unknown suspects. The driver was certified dead at the scene while the other man escaped unharmed.”
Maxambela states that although the motive for the killing is unknown, the incident could be related to taxi violence since the victims belong to a local taxi association.
“We are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation to please call the nearest police or crime stop on 08600 10111.
“Information can also be given anonymously via the MySAPS App that can be downloaded from any smartphone.”
