Station commander gives himself up for adoption

The police in Meyerton recently embarked on the 'Adopt a cop initiative' which promotes unity between schools and police officers working in the area.

The programme was held at  Meyerton High School recently. During the event, the newly appointed Station Commander for Meyerton SAPS, Colonel Victor Moeti Lepitla gave himself up for adoption to the school.

According to police spokesperson Constable Tlaleng Moloi, the objective of Adopt a cop is for police officers, educators and learners to build a trust relationship which can benefit all parties involved as they will work together to combat crime.

During his address at the event, Lepitla stated that for him, being adopted by the school meant being able to liaise with the community and school about issues of interest. Lepitla said that there was no better starting point than kids.
