SEDIBENG. – Following the relaxation from the restrictive COVID-19 lockdown level 3 regulations that were put into place by President Cyril Ramaphosa last December, the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce (NAFCOC) Gauteng President, Bongani Dhlamini has come out to warn liquor traders to obey the law. NAFCOC is a Federated Chamber comprising of over twenty industry specific sectors of the economy with approximately 2.3 million total memberships. NAFCOC’s states its main objective is to promote, unite and encourage the development of small business in South Africa, in particular, general and black entrepreneurs. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Dhlamini said, “I would like to call for all businesses, particular our liquor traders, including retailers, to always obey COVID-19 regulations at all times in order to prevent the spread of this pandemic.” Alcohol sales were seen by many as super spreaders of the COVID-19 virus with the community members being blamed for not following the regulations, such as not keeping to the social distance, when under its influence. “We should be strict to our customers at all times and display compliancy boards visibly to all entering our businesses premises,” Dhlamini said.
