SHARPEVILLE.- A young and in love couple from Sharpeville were left unsure that their dream of getting married would ever come true, following the announcement made by President Cyril Ramaphosa late last year declaring that the country was going to back to a Level 3 lockdown with stringent measures. But as the saying goes, “Love conquers all” and their dream did come true as Lerato Masualle and the love of her life, Morena Moeketsi got married on the first day of this year, 2021, at Clivia Lodge in Vanderbijlpark. “I was very excited to plan the wedding and was looking forward to the big day, then boom, the country went back to Level 3 lockdown and social gatherings were not allowed. I was heartbroken for a moment when I was watching the President address the country, but we strongly believed that it’s all about the two of us. After all, even if we had to get married with no guests, we told ourselves that, ‘No lockdown formed against our wedding shall prosper’,” said Lerato. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Lerato, said that getting married on the first day of the year felt great, and that stepping into the New Year with the love of her life was a feeling out of this world. She adds that they had to tell their guests that the wedding had been cancelled and only a limited number of people was allowed to attend their matrimonial ceremony due to the COVID-19 regulations. “Sadly, social gatherings were prohibited, we had our matrimonial service and took our pictures with only our immediate family and our bridal party. No reception was allowed, so we only had lunch with both our families. What I learned from having to sneak out of Tshepiso to ‘Vandas’ in a wedding gown is that ‘Love conquers all’. We are very happy we took the risk of continuing with the wedding, it was truly worth it. Covid19 or not,” said the now excited Mrs Moeketsi.
