Police investigate the death of two VUT female students

Sango says the  officers from the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) arrived on the scene where they collected samples to conduct toxicology tests.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – The police have opened an inquest docket following the death of two female students from the Vaal University of Technology (VUT).

According to police Spokesperson Constable Busisiwe Sango a 21-year-old  third year student  from Orange Farms  was spotted drinking dry gin mixed with cough syrup known as Lean on Sunday.

“At around 19:00 she and her 22-year old friend  from Sebokeng who is also a student at VUT  went to a residence in  Froneman Street in SE 7 where they were spotted smoking hubbly bubbly. At about 19:45 the two were both showing signs of illness.

“One of their friends  offered them a place to sleep but only one of the girls stayed the night. She was found dead in the morning. The other girl left to another residence where she also died.”

Sango says the  officers from the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) arrived on the scene where they collected samples to conduct toxicology tests.

In a statement, VUT stated that both students were residing in private residences away from campus.
