The main issue is also to address the issue of absorption that was promised to the workers by suspended MEC for Health, Dr Bandile Masuku.

VEREENIGING.- Poverty, anger and frustration was written all over the faces of the Community Healthcare Workers last Friday.
The health workers from Emfuleni, Midvaal and Lesedi Local Municipalities took their protest outside the Sedibeng District Municipality Mayor Chamber Office in Vereeniging last week demanding their three-month backdated salaries.
Arriving in the early morning around 09:00am, the Ward based educators on HIV/AIDS, were holding their placards high, reading: “Sedibeng hands off our future”, “Down with Sedibeng” and “Enough is enough”.
Emfuleni Municipal PR Councillor from the Economic Freedom Front (EFF), Mzwakhe Mapei, was among the delegates who went inside the municipal to meet with relevant officials.
Mapei said in that meeting they reached a resolution that the Ward based HIV/AIDS educators will receive their outstanding three months salaries soon.
“No employee will sign a new contract, as the Director Archie Mokonane together with the delegation will meet the acting MEC of Health, Jacob Mamabolo on a date to be confirmed. The main issue is also to address the issue of absorption that was promised to the workers by suspended MEC for Health, Dr Bandile Masuku.”
Mapei added that all workers who were affected by COVID-19 had to submit their details so that they can be compensated.
Protesters went back to their various areas hoping that soon their plight will be given serious attention. The EFF also held a meeting with the protesters and heared of the horrible conditons that they work in. They (EFF) promised to help them further
