SA’s “biggest house” Vaal Castle is no longer for sale

In August a mansion on the Vaal River – believed to be SA’s largest home was placed on the property market.

Business Insider reported that Absa had instructed The High Street Auction Company to sell the property through a private treaty sale. That meant that the deal was confidentially negotiated between seller and buyer and not auctioned off under the hammer.

The mansion is reportedly owned by the family trust of the 45-year old Kennedy Bungane, a former Absa executive.

The house includes 6 Bedrooms (all en-suite), Indoor and outdoor pools and golf course, dam and boathouse, amphitheatre, regal fixtures and fittings, lift to all floors and a basement car garage.

According to the listing, the house comes with “regal” fixtures and fittings. It comes with a boat house at the river and its own dam.

Business Insider reports that on Thursday the auction house confirmed it had received an instruction from the bank to withdraw the property from the market. An Absa spokesperson did not want to comment due to “banker/client confidentiality”.
