Local student Physio destined for a great future

"He pushed me to work hard and groomed me, made me to see beyond my background."

VANDERBIJLPARK. – When she started to volunteer as the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) FC’s Physiotherapist, little did Evidence Matsane know that one day she would share the stage with professional Physiotherapists and doctors. This happened after VUT Football Club qualified for Nedbank Cup last thirty-two and sixteen respectively, recently.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Matsane said her break came when her classmates told her that VUT Development team was looking for a Physio. She said she grabbed this opportunity with both hands.

“I went to the field to speak with development coach, Mvula Tshabalala and from that day I never looked back. I started to work with him from development and went to the ladies soccer team and then the men’s first team. I will always be grateful to him because he has always been with me and has seen my potential. He pushed me to work hard and groomed me, made me to see beyond my background. I have travelled more than I never thought I would because of him. I’m also thankful to the VUT management for giving me this opportunity,” she said.

Matsane told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the biggest highlights of her life as the VUT FC men’s team Physio was when the team recently qualified for Nedbank Cup last thirty-two and sixteen and played against Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns.

This third year Sports Management students told Sedibeng Ster Sport she will love to further her studies and become a qualified doctor. Her ambition is to see herself working at one of the Premier Soccer League PSL (PSL) clubs as its doctor
