EFF MP out on bail following arrest at Clicks protest

SEDIBENG. -  The Economic Freedom Fighters’ Kenny Motsamai was identified as the Member of Parliament who was charged for assaulting a police officer & resisting arrest at a Clicks protest on Monday.

Evaton SAPS confirmed that Motsamai was taken to Johan Heyns Hospital due to the injuries he sustained during his arrest

Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said Motsamai was arrested in Evaton Mall on the 7th of September.

“During the scuffle, the door of the Clicks broke and Mr Motsamai injured himself on the door,” said Naidoo.

Naidoo said that Motsamai was the only one who was arrested during the Evaton incident

Motsamai is out on bail of R500, said Naidoo.

Motsamai was mired in controversy in 2019 when elected as an MP after recently being released from prison for the 1989 murder of a traffic officer.

He will appear at the Sebokeng Magistrates Court on Monday the 14th of September.
