EVATON.- It is Women’s Month and the Evaton Police took to the streets to educate community members about Gender Based Violence (GBV) last week. The proactive police walked the streets of Zone 7 and Small Farms in Evaton where they distributed pamphlets with educative messages about GBV. Police Spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi said that they managed to reach approximately 200 people. Meanwhile, the Vanderbijlpark Police and patrollers also took it upon themselves to address GBV during the period of August, as it turns to be a challenging period for violent gender-based acts. Vanderbijlpark Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Gertude Makhale said that the police urged the community to report gender based violence and engaged them to stop potential GBV situations. “Police and patrollers were in the streets of Vanderbijlpark and Bophelong policing area, engaging the community to address, educate and inform awareness on GBV, with the aim or objective of reduction of these stressful cases and incidents. During the tour along the streets, informative GBV pamphlets were handed out to the community.”
