Former Safa Vaal Administrator passes away

“Fox was passionate about football and he revived football in Rus-ter-Vaal when his family relocated to the area."

RUS-TER-VAAL – The Sedibeng football fraternity mourns the passing of yet another former South African Football Association (Safa) Administrator, Eric “Moya” Fox.
The passing of Fox comes in a short space of two weeks after the passing of former SAFA Director of Competitions, Zacharia Masetle. Fox was one of the renowned football administrators who was passionate about the development of the sport in this region. He was a member of the Safa Vaal Executive Committee under the leadership of Patrick Mphulenyane, together with Ishmael Maseli, Naithan Flaum, Sipho Nkumane, Grace Tshabalala-Radebe, Paul More and Dr Molefi Oliphant to mention but few.
However, his deep involvement in football came when his family established the Rus-ter-Vaal Blues FC. The club was one of the most feared outfits in Rus-ter-Vaal.
Fox was also known for hosting soccer tournaments for both junior and seniors in the area.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Patrick Louw, who is also long-time friend of Fox since their days at Safa Vaal where they served as Executive Committee Members, said football has lost a par excellence administrator.
“Fox was passionate about football and he revived football in Rus-ter-Vaal when his family relocated to the area. We will sincerely miss him for his passion for this sport. Rus-ter-Vaal has lost a community leader in Fox. He was also involved in his church,” said Louw. Former Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) MMC of Sports, Shaka Radebe said, “Condolences to the Fox family, and may Mr Fox’s soul rest in peace.”
Fox was laid to rest last weekend.
