Tennis training resumes for seniors

The only challenge is the availability of training facilities

SHARPEVILLE.- The Sharpeville Tennis Club has resumed with their programs. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, the Club Coach, Sello “Matrass” Sereko, said the training program is only for seniors until further notice. However, the only challenge is the availability of training facilities, with all the municipality facilities still closed. The club members were told to stop training at George Thabe Stadium’s tennis courts because this was against lockdown regulations. As a result of this, the club has had to write a letter to the Emfuleni Local Municipality’s Sports Department to ask for permission. “Look, tennis is one of the sporting codes that was given a go ahead to resume training because it is a non-contact sports under lockdown. The only age group that has started is seniors. But for now, it is all about training. We will involve other age groups when the country is ready. This COVID-19 pandemic is a problem to our sports,” concluded Sereko.
