MEC Mamabolo joins Community Health Workers on door to door campaign

“As we have now moved to Level 2 lockdown we need to remain vigilant and ensure that we continue wearing masks, practice social distancing and observing the hygiene golden rules of washing hands or using sanitisers."

The Acting MEC for Health, Jacob Mamabolo today joined teams of Community Health Workers on a door-to-door campaign for screening and testing at Emfuleni sub-district which is an emerging hotspot in Sedibeng District.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Emfuleni Sub-District as at 17 August
2020 sits at 10 099 with 6997 recoveries and 188 deaths.
The Sedibeng District has so far screened 1 015 106 people and conducted 46 642 tests.
As part of ensuring that healthcare workers are protected from infections, MEC Mamabolo
also handed over much needed PPE to Sebokeng Hospital and Johan Heyns Community
Health Centre staff who are in the forefront in the fight against Coronavirus.
MEC Mamabolo stated that the hard work by health workers and all other stakeholders
has paid off so far. He cautioned that there is a risk that the gains we have made since
the declaration of a national state of disaster in March can be undermined if we drop our
guard in the fight against COVID-19.
“As we have now moved to Level 2 lockdown we need to remain vigilant and ensure that
we continue wearing masks, practice social distancing and observing the hygiene golden
rules of washing hands or using sanitisers. These remain a powerful weapon in our hands
to protect ourselves and those around us,” said Mamabolo.
