ATM calls for MM’s removal

"The appointment of the MM has not produced any positive results, instead, it has worsened the situation in the ELM."

SEBOKENG. – The African Transformation Movement (ATM), has appealed to the Premier of Gauteng, David Makhura, to remove the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Municipal Manager (MM), Lucky Leseane from his position and dissolve the municipality as per section 139 (1) (c) of the South African constitution.
The Regional Chairperson of the party, Velly Mcera, said the appointment of the MM has not produced any positive results, instead, it has worsened the situation in the ELM.
This comes after the weekeend reports that the MM allegedly approved and awarded tenders worth R62 million despite the advice by the ELM Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Andile Dyakala, not to do so.
The MM is said to have approved and awarded deviation tenders not duly considered by the Bid Adjudication Committee (BAC).
Mcera pointed out that the Gauteng MEC for COgTA, Lebogang Maile sees nothing wrong at the ELM as no one has ever been taken to task.
