Corruption and looting at SDM?

Both the SDM Executive Mayor, Busisiwe Modisakeng and the SDM employees are said to be terrified of the MM.

SEDIBENG. – After apparently writing numerous letters to President Cyril Ramaphosa, the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Gauteng Premier, David Makhura and current Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane about alleged corruption and looting at the Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM), through Sedibeng Ster, councilors from different political parties have decided to let the Sedibeng public know about alleged corruption at the SDM.
The councilors have said that before it is known to the public, the SDM will soon be under Administration like the Emfuleni Local municipality, due to alleged fraud and corruption that is very high in the SDM championed by the Accounting Officer (Municipal Manager), Stanley Khanyile and very senior politicians.
Amongst the alleged corruption that has been brought to the attention of Sedibeng Ster in a long and strong worded letter by the councilors is that:
•There is irregular, unauthorized and wasteful expenditure to the tune of R9, 040,331.98 (2018/2019) and irregular, unauthorized and wasteful expenditure of R12, 977,596.51 (2017/2018) financial years.
•That, Khanyile was appointed with a cloud in his head, where he was highly implicated in a money scandal to the tune of R 30 million in the Eastern Cape.
•That, he has captured all organized labour shop-stewards and has them in his payroll to “suppress employees”.
•That he recently tried to push a Retrenchment Report to Mayoral Committee. The reason for the report being to “purge those whom he feels and know are not agreeing with him”.
Both the SDM Executive Mayor, Busisiwe Modisakeng and the SDM employees are said to be terrified of Khanyile.
In response to these allegations the SDM said that councilors, employees and all stakeholders of the institution have a legal right to exercise in the event of any alleged corruption, bribery or maladministration within the organization.
“Sedibeng District Municipality advises and encourages all councilors, employees and other stakeholders to fully exercise their constitutional right to procedurally and substantively report allegations corruption or irregularity internally or to any other relevant law enforcement agencies. In order to anonymously report fraud or corruption, the following numbers are available: • Fraud and Corruption hotline: 0860 061 022 or 0800 601 011. • National Anti-corruption Forum: 0800 701 701”
