Meyerton clinic closed after two patients test positive for Covid-19

MIDVAAL. - The Meyerton Clinic in the Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) has been closed after two patients tested positive  for Covid-19 at the clinic on 15th and 17th June.

MLM spokesperson Simon Ratlhagane said  that the extent of contact is still being established.

“The relevant health sector protocols, which differ from other private sector protocols are being applied. For safety reasons, the clinic will be closed for sanitizing and fumigation.”

Ratlhagane said that Health Professional Workers will be tested first to ensure that they do not pose any further risk to the public while they carry out their duties.

During this time, the public will be redirected to clinics in Kookrus and Randvaal.

“The municipality continues to prioritise the safety of all its employees and  residents. We encourage our residents to use other health facilities in case of any emergencies.”

MLM pleaded with the municipality to continue  with the wearing of masks, sanitizing of hands and the maintenance of social distancing. The clinic will re-open on Monday, 29 June.
