One woman’s death is too many: Pastoral Forum

“Everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and benefit of the law.”

SEDIBENG.- The Greater Vaal Pastoral Forum has strongly condemned the recent barbaric acts of Gender Based Violence (GBV) perpetrators.
Chairperson of the forum, Apostolic Lebese Mothijoa, said it is discomforting that violence and abuse of women and children never comes to an end or even abate despite the many campaigns, demonstrations and picketing’s.
Instead, the opposite is happening, and it escalates in horrific proportions.
“Everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and benefit of the law,” he said.
Mothijoa further said that as the Greater Vaal Pastoral Forum, they condemn GBV in the strongest terms.
“We call on our law enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators of such horrendous to book. We also appeal to the courts, as a deterrent, to uncompromisingly meet out the harshest prison sentences to all convicted perpetrators of these evil deeds. As the forum we commit ourselves to co-operate with minded individuals and organizations, in planning and implementing all practical measurers that are within the ambit of the law, to fight and end violence directed at defenceless and vulnerable women, and children being abused,” he said.
