Head-on collision in Vaal Marina leaves four injured

Three adults in their 40s and a 12-year-old girl have been injured in a head-on collision between a bakkie and a light motor vehicle on the R549 near Deneysville on the Vaal Marina early this morning.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 06:52 along with Midvaal Fire and SAPS Vaal Marina. Two men, aged 47 and 48, were found lying outside their VW Golf, having self-extricated,” ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said in a statement.

According to Meiring from the bakkie, a woman, also believed to be in her 40s, was found walking around and the 12-year-old girl was sitting in a family member’s vehicle – all of the patients were found to have suffered minor to moderate injuries.

The two men were treated and transported to Fezi Ngubentombi Provincial Hospital in Sasolburg, while the young girl was taken to a private hospital in Midvaal. The woman was transported privately to the same hospital for further care.
