ELM worker tests positive for Covid-19

The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) has confirmed that an employee in the Secretariat and Administration Department of the municipality has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the ELM Communication Department this was confirmed on Saturday, 13 June.

As a precaution the Vanderbijlpark municipal head office will be closed from Monday, 15 June 2020 to Wednesday, 17 June 2020 to enable the Rapid Response Team (RRT) to ascertain the extent to which the COVID-19 protocols should be implemented, including sanitization/disinfection based on the movement of the individual and close contacts.

“Following the confirmation, the COVID-19 RRT for the Sedibeng Region, under the leadership of Ms Joyce Madimabi, was immediately activated,” the department said in a statement.

“The RTT immediately commenced with the contact tracing and possible testing of individual who were in contact with the individual concerned, including employees of the municipality.”

“As an urgent precautionary measure, cleaning and sanitizing of the building will be undertaken in line with COVID-19 regulations. It should be noted that only the main office building offices will be closed. All other officice buildings will be opened to service members of the public.”
