Masuku welcomes Cuban doctors to Gauteng

“You are all a part of the building of an important legacy for the transformation of health in South Africa."

GAUTENG. – Gauteng MEC for Health, Dr Bandile Masuku officially welcomed more than twenty Cuban doctors to the Gauteng Province yesterday.

The doctors, part of a large group that arrived last month, were officially welcomed after finishing their quarantine time and will be dispersed to different health facilities to help with Covid-19 cases.

In welcoming them, Masuku said that the consistent sacrifices and support that South Africa has benefited from Cuba is cherished and invaluable.

“You are all a part of the building of an important legacy for the transformation of health in South Africa. We know that this is just one of the several ways in which Cuba and South Africa have partnered. In the time that you will spend in Gauteng, we hope that you will also be open to learning a bit about our culture and way of life. Of course, the context is one that is unfriendly, even with this being so, South African remains a friendly nation which we want you to feel and be at home in.”
